I am so happy to be able to share that our school was asked to create 24 ornaments for the 2018 National Christmas Tree America Celebrates Display! The 2018 National Christmas Tree Lighting is co-presented by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation. The event kicks off with the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 28, and the festivities continue through January 1 at President’s Park in Washington, DC.
Over 30 Art Group students here at Evergreen designed and painted the ornaments that are now on their way to Washington DC to be put onto the tree for Utah that will be one of the trees surrounding the National Tree. It is a privilege to be the one and only school representing our state in this celebration.
You can follow updates on www.the nationaltree.org to see what’s happening with the celebration.
It’s that time! Class fees are now ready for you to pay. Please go online to pay on the school’s website… just click the “Pay School Fees” gray button down on the right-hand side of the school’s homepage.

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another year at Evergreen. It’s a little wacky as we start the year off with the remodel still in progress, but we thank everyone sooo much for your patience as things get finished here at the school.
My room has brand new tables, stools, flooring, ceiling, lights, sound system, and projector! They just installed my new sink cabinet and counter… really nice after how beat up the old one was, and we should have the sinks hooked up to the plumbing soon! We’ll also be getting in some electronic roller blinds.
I got to keep my huge flat files, my little display case (yeah for PEZ!), and the wonderful cupboard doors that Art Group designed and painted. Thank you so much to Mr. Cutler for fighting for me to keep those things!!! We would be lost on this remodel without our wonderful principal’s hard work throughout the summer. Be sure to let Mr. Cutler know how much all his hard work means.
Speaking of Art Group, we are going to start our regular meetings up on Tuesday August 28th! Come meet in Room 2 at 3:00 pm to join in the fun activities for the year.
Can’t wait for all the fun artwork we are going to create this year! See you guys in Art!
Thank you to all students who have brought submissions for the District Art Show! Hope to see you at the Reception on Thursday April 19th! Click the link below for dates, times, and location.
Please pick up any art you have left from 1st Semester as soon as you are able. Thanks much! District Art Show coming up soon with info to be announced.
It’s that time again! Time for the Social Justice Art Contest, also known as the Cesar Chavez Visual and Language Arts Competition. Time to take into your inner activist and express your feelings about some of the big social justice issues in our world today… Immigrant rights, Gender equity, Racial Justice… so many hot topics to choose from!
Entries are due no later than the morning of September 21st if you want to be considered for one of the two spots to go to Pilar Pobil’s home! Otherwise, entries are due by September 22nd. Please come and pick up entry forms from me, or in the front office. Entries to be considered for the Pilar Pobil trip must be framed as you will be painting your frames at her home. Good Luck!
There is a ton of stuff happening already this school year, and I’m going to try and keep you up to date on all that we have going. With a new State Art Core, there will be some exciting changes in all my classes. One of the things you’ll notice is a new Art Disclosure Statement. I’m also focusing on teaching students about the 8 Studio Habits of Mind. Click to check out the video we watched as an introduction. We are also spending some time learning some basics of Sketchnoting. I encourage you to do a bit of research on what Sketchnoting is. In any case, I’ll be updating things here and on the individual class pages as we move forward!
